National Service Scheme (NSS) is a program that encourages young people to get involved in community service and social activities. Participants volunteer their time to help others and learn important skills along the way. NSS provides opportunities for individuals to contribute to society and make a positive impact on their communities. By participating in NSS, young people can develop a sense of responsibility and compassion towards others. It is a great way for students to gain practical experience while giving back to the community.

NSS Unit Celebrates International Youth Day with ‘Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect’ Programme

Today is International Youth Day, August 12, 2025. Volunteers of the NSS unit of Professor S. Nurul Hasan College gathered at 11 am today to celebrate the day. The “Viksit Bharat Ambassador – Yuva Connect” programme was successfully celebrated today.

Under the supervision of IQAC Chairman Prof. Sutapa Dutta and NSS Program Officer Dr. Kaushik Chattopadhyay, NSS volunteers started today’s programme with an awareness rally keeping in mind the sustainable condition. “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond”- keeping this idea in mind, the slogans were raised- “Empowering Youth, Building Tomorrow;” “Dare to Dream, Dare to Achieve,” etc. in that round up. The rally ended with a tree plantation ceremony at the college gate.

The student body represents the youth of our region. NSS volunteers are a part of it. Today, they present Samriddha Das as a Youth Icon for women empowerment in this locality. Samridha gave inspiring examples of her IIT days. She spoke in the context of her childhood in this area. Along with her, 6 other students spoke about the advantages and disadvantages of Farakka and the challenges of the future. They spoke in Arabic, Bengali and English.

Invited speaker Dr. Sakirul Islam was present on behalf of the Govt. Health Department. He gave a long discussion on the topic of mental health. In a lucid language, Dr. Islam, RBSKMO, specified the work to be done by the youth in this locality for health awareness. NSS volunteers will join the youth of this area in that work in the near future.

Professor Kamal Mishra moderated the meeting with the active participation of all the professors of the college. This multilingual discussion meeting started with Nazrul’s songs and ended with Rabindranath’s songs.
