Situated close to the majestic Ganges, beside NH 34, and within easy reach of the New Farakka bus stop and railway station, the college boasts excellent connectivity, facilitating access for students from diverse backgrounds.
The college was named after the erstwhile Governor of West Bengal, late Prof. S. Nurul Hasan, who himself was a historian and scholar of international repute. Inaugurated by the distinguished late Governor K.V. Raghunath Reddy, the college was founded under the visionary leadership of ex-M.L.A. Abul Hasnat Khan, embodying a commitment to educational excellence and societal progress. From its inception with two dedicated lady lecturers and a handful of eager students, the college has blossomed into a vibrant academic community serving nearly four thousand students today.
At the helm of this dynamic institution is the current principal, Dr. Capt. Sibasish Banerjee, whose leadership fosters a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and academic rigor. Under his guidance, the college has expanded its academic offerings to include nine major courses and eleven minor courses, catering to a diverse range of student interests and career aspirations. This diverse curriculum is complemented by modern infrastructure and facilities that enhance the overall learning experience.
The college campus is a testament to holistic development, housing essential amenities such as a digital library equipped with a vast repository of knowledge, a well-equipped gymnasium promoting physical fitness and wellness, and a sprawling stadium with a huge playground encouraging sports and extracurricular activities. The college canteen serves as a hub of social interaction and nourishment, fostering camaraderie among students and faculty alike. One hostel caters to OBC boys, ensuring a conducive living environment that supports their academic journey, while the other provides a safe and comfortable residence for female students, promoting inclusivity and gender equity.
