Prof. S. Nurul Hasan College, Farakka was established in the year 1994 by the then M.L.A. of Farakka, Late Abul Hasnat Khan. The college was named after the erstwhile Governor of West Bengal, Late S. Nurul Hasan, an academician and historian of international repute.Starting with only two lady lecturers and a handful of students, the college has now grown into a prominent institution with nearly 4,000 enrolled students and nearly 70 teachers, including teachers from full-time, SACT and invited categories. At present, around 12 subjects are taught in the college, including 9 Honours/Major subjects. The college has a lush green campus surrounded by NH 34 and the River Ganges. It provides various facilities for students, including a gymnasium and an affordable canteen. The college also has a well-functioning Physical Education Department and an active NSS Unit. At present, Md. Ruhul Amin is serving as the Teacher-in-Charge (T.I.C.) of the college. Under his leadership, the college continues to function with utmost care, efficiency and commitment towards academic excellence and overall development. Special emphasis is given to ensuring regular classes, maintaining discipline and creating a healthy academic environment for students and teachers alike. The college strives to uphold high ethical, social and cultural values. Cultural programmes and various co-curricular activities are regularly organised with enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff members. The motto of our college is “Keep the Flame of Learning Burning.” Guided by this motto, the institution remains committed to providing quality education and fostering the intellectual, moral and cultural development of its students. The standard of faculty and teaching-learning practices of the college is a matter of pride. The college has successfully fulfilled the dreams and aspirations of the local people who contributed generously towards its establishment and continued development. Looking ahead, the college is committed to further strengthening its academic infrastructure and expanding educational opportunities. The proposed introduction of the Science Stream will be an important step towards providing students with broader avenues for higher education. The college fraternity remains dedicated to continuous improvement, academic excellence and the holistic development of its students.
